Maintaining Your Aston Martin: Tips for Long-Term Care

Your Aston Martin is a premier luxury vehicle and requires expert technicians and high-quality replacement parts to ensure it always provides superior performance. Auto components will inevitably wear out, and worn components can cause additional damage until replaced. As your dealer, we want to give you a few examples of the Aston Martin maintenance we provide to protect your vehicle long-term.

Oil Replacement

Regularly scheduled oil replacement helps to protect your engine, as it lubricates countless engine components. Many of these components depend on friction to work effectively, and the oil protects them against damage by providing a friction-resistant coating. Oil additives help prevent rust formation and break down engine deposits that can cause damage.

Synthetic oil has a longer effective life than regular oil, but both types need replacement. Older oil accumulates metal shavings, dirt, and other debris, causing it to slow down. Slower oil is less effective at cooling and protecting engine components, leading to increased wear and tear. In addition, the oil filter can become blocked by debris, reducing the oil’s effectiveness even further. Changing the oil and filter is quick and prevents these problems.

Cooling System Service

The cooling system’s job is to protect your engine against overheating. Combustion and the movement of hundreds of components generate massive quantities of heat. Excessive heat can damage vital engine components like the head gasket or seals. Liquid coolant is pumped through the engine at high speed to absorb the heat and transport it to the radiator for removal by heat exchange.

During service, our technicians check all cooling system components work correctly and examine the system for signs of damage. Rust can develop on the radiator, leading to a loss of pressure and coolant and potentially causing your engine to overheat. We also check the system is airtight and replace the coolant. Fresh coolant is even more effective at controlling engine temperature.

Alternator Replacement

The alternator acts as a compact generator that powers your vehicle’s systems and recharges the battery. It is a durable component, typically offering a reliable working life of about eight years. Eventually, the alternator will slow down due to worn and damaged parts, reducing the electricity available. As the electricity supply drops, issues like dim lights, slow accessories, and random electrical glitches will appear.

These issues worsen as the alternator weakens, and your battery won’t recharge completely, leading to battery failure. The battery warning light on your dash will illuminate to warn of this problem. We’ll test your alternator and can replace it in minutes to fix this problem.
